Night Moves
One winter I was having a bout of insomnia, so I used the time I had to capture Milwaukee in the early mornings. Once a week for about a month, I went out at around 3am and shot photos of the city when it was desolate and vacant. It was a peaceful experience, though it was also quite cold. I got to see my city in a whole new way, and during those long exposures, I would meditate on the art of photography itself—thinking about how framing and composition could transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. It was a chance to reflect not just on the stillness of the city but also on how photography can offer a fresh perspective on the world around us.
